Sara’s BIO
Sara grew up in Arizona and always wanted to write. She was the “girl next door” that had read every book in her school library. She finally wrote her first book after marrying Brad, who many people say is literally “the most interesting man in the world” because of all his adventures prior to meeting Sara. They met online in 2001 when internet dating was new to the world. Sara saved all those emails from their online courtship prior to meeting each other in person. Brad had one more interesting adventure after meeting Sara. He joined the US Army at 38 years old. Sara began writing her love story memoir while the 42-year-old Lieutenant was deployed to Afghanistan. Sara was a military wife, a caregiver to her disabled parents, and a mother of two young girls at the time. Sara lives in Florida now with her family, including Charlie and Elvis, their dogs.

Press Release:
Made Again is a true love story that started with an internet dating personals ad and leads to renewal, adventure, romance, and resiliency. It is the story of a quiet, divorced woman who falls in love with a man that has already led an adventurous life and travelled the world. I hope that readers will enjoy the romance, but they may also relate to our life struggles, as well as gain insight as they read about our time living on the Arizona border with Mexico and later as a military family. Come explore the power of letters as I include our initial emails, our letters during military training, and our writing during deployment.
This love story also describes the joys and struggles of a woman who becomes a mother while taking care of her own parents. I got closer with my parents during the time that I helped to take care of them. I do admit though that I got extremely frustrated with it at times, but I am so glad that I stepped up and tried my best to show my love and appreciate them. Family comes in many different forms. I relied on family a lot during my husband’s deployment. His parents were always there for me, but also close friends, Army “family”, and our church “family”.
Made Again will be available in paperback and eBook on my website, Amazon, and BarnesandNoble.com online starting in August 2018. It can also be ordered from Itasca, Ingram, or Baker & Taylor catalogs.

Media Question and Answer
Can you please tell us a little about your background?
I grew up in Arizona and loved to read (and write even then). My childhood years were a little unusual and I was the first in my family to attend college. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling. I have been a juvenile probation officer, a teacher, a counselor, a librarian, and an academic adviser. I have lived in six different towns and visited at least twelve countries in the fifteen years I’ve been married. Quite a change for the girl that grew up in Arizona going to one school, living in one house, and having only visited a few nearby states like California before I met my husband.
What was your inspiration for writing?
I started writing my memoir when my husband was deployed to Afghanistan. I really felt the need to write out our beautiful love story. I had a dream of writing a book since I was a young girl and decided that I would make my dream come true.
What makes your book unique?
It is a true love story and I found that there aren’t a lot of non-fiction books out there that describe a love story. I did feel that there was a gap in the market in that area.
I had also saved all of our initial emails before we met in person and all of our snail mail handwritten letters from Basic Combat Training so I decided to incorporate many of our “modern day love letters” into the book.
Do you think there are topics in your story that a lot of people can relate to?
In addition to our romance, I describe the challenges of our lives that many people can relate to, including looking for love after divorce, job instability, being caregivers for parents while raising children of our own, and dealing with grief.
In reviewing the comments that my advanced readers have given to me, I believe that our story touches on many emotions. Made Again will make you laugh out loud, ugly cry, and sigh with a smile.
I think military spouses especially will be able to relate to my memoir.
Do you shed light on any current issues?
Especially, considering current events, I think people can gain some insight into border issues and into the military because I describe our day to day lives during the time when my husband was a border patrol agent and we lived on the Arizona border with Mexico, as well as our time as a military family and his deployment to Afghanistan.
Although I believe that those related to the military will understand our story, I think that those who do not know anyone or have anyone in their family that has served in the military will come to a deeper understanding of the sacrifices that are made by servicemembers and their families.
I also describe our distress and emotional turmoil related to suicide and overdose, which are, unfortunately, very common today.
Do you have any unique hobbies or interests?
My husband talked this nervous woman into becoming a certified scuba diver and has since taught our daughters as well, so we enjoy scuba diving together. We also love to kayak on the rivers near our home. Our favorite type of vacation is going on cruises and I describe in my book how a cruise was a surprise birthday present when we were dating.
Do you plan to write any other books?
Yes, I do, but I have not decided yet if it will be another non-fiction memoir or a fiction novel yet.
Do you have any advice for your readers or other writers?
I would tell them to pursue your dreams and be open to new adventures. Make your life a journey of love. I wish you bon voyage and happy trails, my friends!
